We've learned just about all we need to know about how to make dense living comfortable. All we need to do is stop clinging to the idea that everyone is entitled to private open space. Open space, yes; private space, yes; but private open space, no.
Make the boundary between city/village and country/wilderness sharp again.
Make everyday life walkable again. Does anyone really think we can beat global warming under any scenario in which we depend on our cars to go anywhere?
