On April 14th, put on your blue t-shirt and head to downtown NYC and help simulate what a 10 ft. rise in sea level would do to Manhattan. It's all part of Sea of People, created by the organizers of Step It Up 2007.

A new controversial procedure for organ donation has doctors taking out organs minutes after a patient's heart stops, before the brain is dead. Some say this is harsh and will likely lead to doctors discontinuing treatment earlier. Others say this this a more efficient way to meet the growing demanding for organs since no other system is in place cough cough stem cell research cough cough.

Scooter Libby was found guilty today of lying under oath and obstructing justice. He now faces up to 25 years in prison and constant ridicule on his Wikipedia page. Harry Reid quickly challenged Bush not to pardon him, which will probably happen if the appeal isn't successful. The jurors said they felt bad for Libby, since he was obviously the fall guy.

A new study says Americans hate their jobs more than ever. Those under 25 are the most dissatisfied. Unless they work at Google, in which case they're probably openly mocking this article over a game of foosball.

Strom Thurmond's twice-removed first cousin's slave was the paternal great-grandfather of Al Sharpton. Kind of a stretch, but still sort of interesting. DNA test to come...

Prince Harry is about to get his first taste of military action in Iraq. His deployment was conveniently announced on the same day that Prime Minister Tony Blair announced a cut of 1,600 British troops in Iraq over the coming months. In the U.S. Dick Cheney responded to the troop cuts saying, "Well, I look at it and see it is actually an affirmation that there are parts of Iraq where things are going pretty well." Wow, you've got to have balls of steel to say that with a straight face. He continued, "In fact, I talked to a friend just the other day who had driven to Baghdad down to Basra, seven hours, found the situation dramatically improved from a year or so ago." He is, of course, referring to his own imaginary version of the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come.

The North Dakota House tried (and failed) to pass a bill yesterday honoring Bono even though he's never been to the state. This means that either North Dakotans have absolutely nothing to do or they're desperately in need of some attention.

Yesterday the U.S. issued a warning to Iran, saying it's wrong to arm Shiite resistance groups. This may have held some credibility had the U.S. not done the exact same thing with the Mujahideen in Afghanistan in the 80's. Oh well, at least we're not applying the same hypocrisy to the Saudis and their their funding of Sunni insurgents.

A worldwide lottery may be up and running within five years. It's nice to see where our global priorities are these days. Or maybe this is a well thought out plan to spawn some sort of new Chanel-wearing Jedi force that will work to eradicate carbon emissions and uranium enrichment. You never know... I mean who would have thought Chewbacca would come back and start head-butting people?

Before your next trip to the amusement park, check out rideaccidents.com and read about the latest mishaps on your favorite death-defying - or so you thought - rides. Two frightening examples: 1) The "Move It" ride in Scotland left 18 people hanging upside down for over an hour. 2) The bungee cord on the "Ejection Seat" ride in Oklahama AND Montana "shredded like confetti."

That's an extremely nice gesture considering that we're all likely to be mourning TrimSpa in the coming months. See, when you're pedaling an unregulated pill and your spokesperson mysteriously drops dead, your days are probably numbered.

San Francisco has approved a ban on plastic grocery bags in supermarkets. Well, actually you'll still be able to get plastic bags, just a more biodegradable kind. Also available are paper and canvas bags, which may be better options for those that give in to the jumbo-sized Fruit Loops.
